FAQ for PerDiemCalc

Who is this program for?

PerDiem Calc is for anyone who travels and is paid according to DOD per-diem rates. It is perfect for active duty, reserves and National Guard members from all branches of service (US Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard). It also is great for DOD civilians and contractors traveling on DOD orders!

How does your program work? Does it calculate the 75% first and last day travel rate?

PerDiemCalc is a simple, user friendly program that masks a massive database of over 4,000 US and international locations worldwide. The app simplifies complex government regulations regarding government travel pay. But all of the complex calculations happen behind the scenes of our app. For the user of our app, the process is easy and only takes seconds! By just inputting your trip dates and locations in an easy to use format, PerDiemCalc automatically applies the proper rules regarding your per diem for the first and last day of travel to calculate how much you will make on your trip.

My trip took required me to travel to many locations, what stops do I enter into your calculator?

In order to get the correct per diem amount, ONLY enter the locations that you stayed OVERNIGHT. For example, I am based at Fort Hood, TX. On a short 2 day trip, I stopped for meetings in Austin and San Antonio before stopping overnight in Houston. Using the calculator, I would only input Houston (because that is the location that I stayed overnight) as a stop. Then on the next screen, I would enter Fort Hood again. This prompts the program to complete your trip and calculates the correct per diem amount.

Why can’t I enter the time that I arrived to my next location? Doesn’t that affect the calculation?

Nope! Per diem calculations are only affected by the date that you arrive, not the time of day. For example, if you leave from New York on July 3 and arrive in London, England on July 4th, you simply input July 4th into the date of arrival column. PerDiemCalc will take care of the rest.

Ok, but I’m staying on a DOD installation for my trip, can it calculate proportional per-diem too?

Yes! PerDiemCalc has an option to calculate both proportional and incidentals only for each trip location. When you are using the “Total a Trip” function of PerDiemCalc, just select the location that you stayed overnight. About halfway down on the screen there is the option to select proportional or incidentals only.

What if I can’t find the location where I stayed?

PerDiemCalc has over 4,000 possible travel locations. First, make sure that you look at the bottom of the screen. There are options for CONUS (US locations), OCONUS (Overseas locations) as well as an option to select the baseline rate for unlisted locations using the DOD unlisted location rates. However, there may be a few locations that were accidentally left out of the database. If you find a location left out, just e-mail info@militarylounge.com with the location that was not in the database. Our professional team of developers will respond promptly by adding the location to the next revision.

So this program sounds too good to be true, are there any limitations?

PerDiemCalc is extremely accurate at calculating your total trip per diem. In most cases, it is within a few dollars of your actual payment. The only known limitation is that it cannot currently calculate international dateline crossings. Crossing the international dateline (the program thinks it’s going “back-in-time”) is a very difficult problem to solve! But we’re working on it and hope to have it solved by the next revision. If you find any errors, please bring them to our attention by e-mailing info@militarylounge.com with the problem you experienced. Please include as many details as possible so that we can try to replicate the problem. We are VERY customer focused and want to make this the best possible application for you. Our team of developers will attack it right away to try to solve the problem. What if I find a problem with the program or have a suggestion to improve it? The development team at MilitaryLounge has worked EXTREMELY hard to make a highly-functional and user-friendly app at a reasonable price. We’ve tested and tested this app to make sure that it was stable and accurate. That being said Murphy’s Law strikes from time to time. Just e-mail info@militarylounge.com with your issue or suggestion. We’ll respond promptly to your concern

Wow! This program is pretty cool, what else are you developing?

We can’t reveal all of our secret projects! But we can say that our programs focus on making life simpler for our customers. If you like the app, the greatest compliment you can pay to us is by doing two things. 1.) Tell your friends and coworkers about this app. Our app has been so successful because of word of mouth advertising. 2.) Post an honest and heartfelt review on iTunes app store. This helps let other shoppers know of the quality of our app.
